Calathea 'Helen Kennedy'
A truly rare and sought-after variety of Calathea with distinctive dark ornamental leaves and stunning feathered variegation, similar to a peacock's tail.
The Calathea genus contains some of the most recognisable houseplants which can also be identified under the Geoppertia genus. These plants can be found natively across the tropical rainforests of South America.
Calathea are part of the Marantaceae family which are known for their ability to move their leaves depending on available light. This is known as nastic movement. Calathea are a great pet friendly houseplant option.
Care instruction:
Light: Position out of any direct sunlight! If in a shadier spot, the plant will offer less growth and require less water.
Water: Thoroughly water, then allow the top 3 to 4cm of compost to dry before re-watering. Water less in winter when the plant is growing more slowly. Over-watering can cause root rot.
Humidity: This plant enjoys humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water.
Toxic: Non-toxic for cats, dogs, and humans.
