The Must Know Wedding Flower Trends for Summer 2021
Weddings are ON! I am so excited for my lovely couples who have postponed their Big Day due to the pandemic and can finally say ‘I Do’ this Summer. The Town Garden team have been busy bees with all things weddings this month and our diary is filling up quickly for weddings ahead in 2021 and 2022.
So with all the excitement for wedding season, I wanted to share some of my favourite floral trends for Summer 2021 and give you some inspiration if you are looking for your wedding flowers.
Bold Bridal Bouquets
This past year has seen so many happy couples having to rearrange their special day, so after the long wait brides this Summer are asking for big and bold bridal bouquets. Working with each individual bride and groom is something I love – it means we can really get to know each other and create a bespoke bouquet and wedding day flowers that really reflects you as a couple.
This is one of my recent wedding bouquets in the beautifully bold colour palette. Striking red anemones, blue nigella, ruffled peach roses, pretty pink peony, happy yellow craspedia, lilac scabiosa and of course tons of seasonal foliage for my signature Town Garden style bouquet. Isn't it a beaut?
Sunshine Yellow
I was thrilled to see this year that Pantone chose a gorgeous yellow as their colour shade of 2021. Yellow always looks fabulous for Summer weddings – there is just something about the colour that makes you smile! Brides are asking for bolder, brighter shades for weddings this year so yellow can be used to add a dash of sunshine and contrast against other strong coloured blooms.
One of my favourite flowers to use in for weddings is Craspedia. This funky, ball shaped bloom adds a pop of yellow and great texture for a striking bouquet or buttonholes. It also has the meaning of 'wishes will come true' which I think is pretty perfect for a wedding day!
Naturally Wild
Weddings this summer will embrace the great outdoors. Brides are getting creative with wedding settings and venues for getting hitched in 2021 – bookings for tipi tents and cool igloos has gone through the roof! So I predict that the wild and free floral trend will be a huge hit on Instagram this summer, which looks incredible when used to transform outdoor wedding settings by expert florists.
Think tons of natural woods and twigs mixed with luxurious feathers, dried flowers, palm leaves and seasonal green foliage used to make romantic arch ways, draping garlands and decorative hoops. Add some storm lanterns with giant candles and twinkling fairy lights to really style the venue for a memorable wedding party!
Romantic Ranunculus
Ah, I have a secret soft spot for these magical blooms which are perfect for summer weddings, and bang on trend for 2021. The best way to describe Ranunculus is they look like a blend of roses and peonies; Ranunculus have a large round head with many delicate petals creating a ruffled effect. Romantic and stylish, Ranunculus have the hidden meaning of ‘dazzled by you’ when used in wedding designs.
Take a peek at these beauties I picked up from the flower market recently – I simply adore the creamy white petals with a hint of hot pink at the edge. I can’t wait to use these stunners for a Summer wedding now!
