My five favourite Summer blooms
There SO many amazing flowers available in the Summer season, trust me it was hard to shortlist my favourite five! I love popping down to the local flower markets in the earlier mornings (with a strong coffee in hand!) to pick out new seasonal stems to bring back to my shop and play with.
Recently Town Garden has been filled with some of the loveliest seasonal stems such as pink roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, phlox, lisianthus, scabious, astilbe… the shop looks and smells like petal heaven! What would be your favourite summer flower?
If you are looking to send some Summer flowers, my In a Hurry Bouquet is popular to order online as you simply pick the colour scheme and size, and leave the rest to our artisan hands. We use the best seasonal flowers available on the day to make a bespoke bouquet in our signature Town Garden style and deliver same day.
Hydrangeas
I’m just a teeny tiny bit crazy about Hydrangeas! Just look how fab they look in this recent bespoke bouquet Town Garden made in striking purple shades for a local customer. Hydrangeas are great as a statement flower, adding a real stylish summer garden feel to floral designs.
If you are sending flowers to someone special and know they love a summer bloom, you can always give me a call or pop by the shop in Hitchin (find us at 28 Sun Street) and I can create something spectacular using that flower!
Sweet Pea
Sweet Peas always make me smile, even on the greyest of Summer days. Soft, delicate petals in pretty shades of whites, pinks and purples, I just can't resist sweet peas when I spot them at the flower market!
I love nestling them in a hand-tied for some romantic texture, but think they look incredible on their own beautifully arranged in a rustic jar. Perfect for popping on a coffee table at home or for a classy corporate vase for a reception desk - it will get guests dreaming of relaxing summer days!
Craspedia
Craspedia can easily be spotted – they are the round bundles of bright sunshine yellow. I adore using Craspedia in Summer designs, as they add a real touch of fun and pop of colour to bouquets.
Craspedia features in my Bright Country Classic Hand-tied, which is a stunning combo of reds, purples, yellows and orange shades. I love this bouquet for its tropical mix of colours and will brighten up anyones day when I deliver to their front door as a floral surprise!
Veronica
Seasonal throughout the warmer months, Veronica is a lovely and versatile flower. It grows tall, with mini flowers blossoming up in a bushy spike – great for texture and height in floral designs.
When it’s in season, Veronica features in the Victoria Bouquet from my new Luxury Flowers range I launched online recently. Using a mix of gorgeous purple and lilac flowers, this is a WOW bouquet to spoil someone special on their birthday or celebrating a happy event.
Clematis
Delicate clematis, with its slim purple petals looks absolutely stunning used for Summer wedding flowers. Here it is featured in one of my bespoke bridal bouquets, with its rich colour and interesting shape it helps create a romantic yet modern look against the classic white roses.
There are several meanings to Clematis flower such as travel joy and mental strength, but my favourite has to be wisdom - which is perfect for couples getting hitched!
